SAMBA, Dec 5: Deputy Commissioner, Anuradha Gupta today directed the stakeholder departments for reinforced measures to curb drug trafficking. She was chairing the NCORD meeting here in the Conference Hall of the DC office.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Rakesh Dubey; Additional SP, Surinder Choudhary; ACR, SDMs Vijaypur & Ghagwal, Commandants from BSF, Tehsildars, SHOs, heads of Degree colleges, besides other members of NCORD.
It was also informed that the district police have booked 25 notorious drug peddlers under PSA to tighten the noose around the perpetrators of Drug Trafficking.
The Deputy Commissioner discussed key issues related to the menace of drug addiction, areas of concern, age group of addicts, and hot spots of drug peddling, while laying stress on taking concrete measures to curb and prevent the cultivation of illicit poppy and cannabis in the District.
All the line Departments, particularly the members of the NCORD, which was constituted by the Government, were directed to reinforce the steps at different levels to combat drug trafficking and ensure better coordination among the departments.
The officials were directed to conduct awareness camps in schools and colleges across the districts on a mass scale to sensitize the youth about the hazards and ill effects of consuming drugs through video documentaries.
“Feedback boxes installed at each Panchayat, schools and colleges should be used to identify drug abusers and traffickers” the officers were told.
