SAMBA, Oct 6: District Election Officer (DEO) Samba, Rajesh Sharma, chaired a crucial meeting, to finalize the arrangements for the counting of votes scheduled on October 8. The meeting was attended by key officials, including Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Vinay Kumar, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Jagdish Singh, Returning Officers (ROs) of the 3 Assembly constituencies, and other district officers. The objective was to ensure that all necessary preparations are in place for a smooth, transparent and secure counting process.
The counting will take place at three designated locations; Block-I and Block-II of the Administrative Complex at Nandani Hills, Samba, for AC-69 (Ramgarh) and AC-70 (Samba), and at Vimal Muni College of Education, Vijaypur, for AC-71 (Vijaypur). A total of 32 candidates are contesting across these constituencies.
Champa Devi, Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Samba, has been appointed to oversee arrangements at the Nandani Hills counting centers, while Subash Chander, Program Officer (ICDS) Samba, will manage operations at the Vijaypur centre. To maintain law and order during the counting process, strict security measures will be implemented and entry will be strictly regulated.
Designated parking areas have been identified, and transportation will be provided for counting agents to and from the venues. The DEO directed the concerned departments to ensure uninterrupted power supply and maintain all necessary infrastructure. Provisions for sanitation, food, and water will be in place at all locations. Medical teams will also be on standby to address any health emergencies.
To facilitate media coverage, a dedicated media centre will be established, ensuring timely dissemination of information throughout the counting day.
The DEO stressed the importance of seamless coordination among all departments to ensure the process is carried out efficiently and transparently. All directives were issued for immediate implementation to guarantee that the required arrangements are in place ahead of the counting day.
