SAMBA, May 28: Deputy Commissioner Samba, Abhishek Sharma visited the Mohargarh Heritage Site to inspect progress of ongoing works taken up under the “Revival of Heritage” project.
Samba district shares boundaries with Jammu, Udhampur and Kathua districts. It has three historical forts of Mohargarh fort, Dhergarh fort and Bhupnergarh fort. The Mohargarh fort is located in Nud block of district Samba. It is one of the places in Jammu that has a rich cultural and architectural legacy.
The “Revival of Heritage” project envisages restoration, preservation and maintenance of architecture and heritage structures to promote these as tourist attractions.
During the visit, Abhishek Sharma was informed that the construction work of R/wall and first floor walling has been completed. However, the construction of Chowkidar hut and front work of elevation is in progress. He directed the executing agency to expedite the work and ensure quality standards.
He also directed the concerned officers to formulate a plan to create better facilities and amenities to make Mohargarh a major tourist destination. He said that the project would boost the local economy and generate employment opportunities for the youth.
Executive Engineer PWD Vijay Duper, district and sectoral officers accompanied him during the visit.
