DC Samba reviews implementation of National Tobacco Control Programme

SAMBA, Jan 7: The implementation of National Tobacco Control Programme in Samba District was today reviewed here at a DLCC meeting attended by Key stakeholders.
The meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner (Chairperson DLCC), Anuradha Gupta, which was held here in the Conference Hall, District Administrative Complex.
ADDC, Rajinder Singh; ADC, Rakesh Dubey; ACR, Manu Hansa; Chief Medical Officer Samba, Dr. Vidhi Bhatial; ARTO, SDM Vijaypur, Chief Education Officer, District Agriculture Officer, CEO Municipality, Principal GDC Samba, Tehsildar Headquarter, Divisional Coordinator NTCP, were present on the meeting.
Welcome address and overview of the programme was presented by Chief Medical Officer Dr. Vidhi Bhatial after which PPT was presented by Shiveta Raina Divisional Coordinator (NTCP).
All the major issues were discussed with the officers/officials regarding identification of Public places to be declared as No Smoking Zone, Tobacco free Village Initiative and other issues.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the DLCC members to put in extra efforts to make District Samba Tobacco Free.
The Chief Education Officer was asked to launch a massive awareness campaign in the schools to spread awareness among the children about the harmful effects of tobacco and E- cigarette.
Further, the enforcement committee was directed to strictly enforce the provisions of COTPA ACT-2003 and make public places smoke-free and livable.
