SAMBA, MAY 18: In order to reach out to the people living in border areas and to address their issues, Deputy Commissioner Samba Anuradha Gupta today conducted an extensive tour of areas along the zero line.
The Deputy Commissioner visited areas from Chak Fakira in Samba to BOP Tanwar in Ramgarh and discussed security issues with DIG Border Security Force Hari Lal.
Additional District Development Commissioner Rajinder Singh; Sub Divisional Magistrate Vijaypur Vinay Sharma; District Mineral officer, Mohd Sayeed; Chief Agriculture Officer, Block Development officer, Tehsildar besides other officers from BSF were also present.
The meeting discussed issues on Border Security concerns, Bund works, clearing of bushes on cultivable land along zero line, Border Farming, exploring possibilities to bring Amrit Sarovar under Border tourism, mining near border in Basantar, rectification of Flood prone area etc.
Taking cognizance of the public issues, the DC directed BDO Samba to include bund works under MGNREGA, while the Chief Agriculture Officer was asked to devise a plan for clearing the bushes near the border area. The DC directed to explore possibilities for Border Farming in close coordination with BSF.
The Executive Engineer flood control dept was asked to take pre-emptive steps for protection and restoration of bunds along the River Channel well before onset of monsoons.
The Deputy Commissioner also held discussions on security concerns in view of detection of underground tunnels.
