DC sanctions Rs 30 lakh relief for fire-affected families

SRINAGAR, Jan 19: District Administration Srinagar has sanctioned relief and compensation in favour of families affected by recent fire incidents.
Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, Shahid Choudhary sanctioned the amount for immediate relief to affected families. Additional Deputy Commissioner Dr Syed Hanief Balkhi, Joint Director Planning Mohammad Yaseen Lone, ACR Rour ur Rehman and concerned Tehsildars were present in the meeting.
In eight different fire incidents 23 structures were damaged and 44 families affected in Gandarpora, Nawakadal, Zadibal, Allochibagh, Habbakadal, Wattalkadal, Nadpora, Chhanpora and Panthachowk. The district administration rushed immediate assistance to affected families which included Rs 3 lakh cash assistance, 175 mattresses, 180 blankets, and 200 bed sheets apart from kitchen sets and other household requirements.
Meanwhile, after assessment of losses an assistance of Rs 30 lakh was sanctioned by Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar in favour of affected families which included Rs 1 lakh each for restoration of damaged structures, Rs 3000-4000 assistance for kitchen items, Rs 5000 cash assistance, Rs 10,000-15000 each for subsistence expenses in view of harsh weather conditions.
Further, he asked the concerned officials to propose the cases for assistance under PMAY for assistance of Rs 1.68 lakh each in cases of fully damaged houses enabling the families for reconstruction of their houses.
As a special initiative the district administration has undertaken to provide education assistance including books to the children/students belonging to the families affected due to fire incidents.
Meanwhile, the District Level Screening Committee cum inter-departmental committee(s) constituted by the District Administration, Srinagar approved an assistance of Rs 38.20 lakh in cases of houses damaged due to recent heavy snowfall, assistance to affected families, reconstruction aid and also restoration and upgradation of power distribution stations as well as school buildings.
An amount of Rs 40.23 lakh was sanctioned in cases of houses damaged due to heavy snowfall which included 09 houses fully damaged, 6 houses partially damaged, 7 sheds and a number of roof-tops damaged during the heavy snowfall. The amount was released to respective Tehsils for crediting to the accounts of affected families.
