SRINAGAR, Nov 30: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Dr Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat today visited the Urban Primary Health Centre (UPHC) Batamaloo and took stock of its functioning and health care facilities being available to the patients.
The DC also reviewed the progress of ongoing infrastructure upgradation works to augment the patient care facilities.
During the visit, the DC inspected various wards, diagnostic labs, drug store and other sections of the Health Centre. He also interacted with the staff, patients and their attendents.
Dr Bilal stressed the staff to ensure better medical facilities to the patients, and treat them in a compassionate manner.
The DC also inspected the ongoing infrastructure upgradation works on installation of lift being executed at cost of Rs 29.28 lakh under District Capex.
He assessed the status of the recently installed TRUENAT machine at the UPHC which was recently provided by the Deputy Commissioner under District Mineral Fund, and is an advanced, chip-based, rapid molecular test device for the diagnosis of Tuberculosis (TB) in the patients. The machine is capable to conduct four tests simultaneously within approximately one hour, marking a significant advancement in TB diagnosis in Srinagar District.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Bilal emphasized that this machine will play a vital role in improving TB diagnosis and treatment to make Srinagar TB free soon.
The DC expressed hope that the TRUENAT machine will not only ensure rapid and accurate TB detection but is also capable of identifying rifampicin resistance, which is crucial for diagnosing drug-resistant TB.
Besides, Chief Planning Officer, In-charge Zonal Medical Officer Batamaloo, District Health Officer, District Tuberculosis Officer and other concerned were present on the occasion.
