SAMBA, June 8: Samba Police organised workshop on investigations in narcotic cases at DPO Samba, where DM Samba, SSP Samba & Joint Director Prosecution imparted legal tips to the Investigating Officers ( IOs.).
Workshop was attended by Additional SP Samba Surinder Choudhary, SDPO Vijaypur Rahul Nagar, DySP Operations Samba Garu Ram Bhardwaj, DySP DAR Ajay Anand, Sr.PO Ravinder Kumar, Sr.PO Jaswant Raj, SrPO Gurpreet Kour, Incharge District NDPS team, all SHOs, all Incharge PPs, all I.Os, all MHCs, and all readers of the district.
It was the first exclusive workshop organised by Samba police with the objective to ensure lacunae free investigations in NDPSA cases to increase conviction rate and to devise an effective strategy to deal with deadly drug menace in Samba district.
On the occasion, DC Samba Abhishek Sharma, SSP Samba Benam Tosh and Joint Director Prosecution Pawan Khajuria laid stress on pursuing proper procedure while conducting raids, searches and investigations in cases under Narcotics Drugs & Psychotropic Substances Act. They advised that Gazetted Officers (GOs) of Police, Magistrate and independent witnesses should be got involved while conducting searches & raids and SSP, SDPOs, Supervisory Offices & Prosecuting Officers should be consulted just before registering cases under NDPS Act as also during the course of investigation so asto secure cent per cent convictions and apprehend all accused, conspirators and abettors of illicit narco trafficking.
DC, SSP, JDP assured police officers to provide all kinds of help as and when required to eradicate drug abuse.
Senior Superintendent of Police Samba Benam Tosh said that police would be organizing such workshops at District Police Headquarters after short intervals to bring about proficiency and to increase conviction rate.
