KISHTWAR, June 19: Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Ashok Sharma, today visited the Singhpora area of Chatroo Sub Division to take first-hand appraisal of the progress of the Survey for widening of National Highway-244, besides listening to the grievances and issues of the land owners there.
He was accompanied by Sub-Divisional Magistrate Chatroo, Inderjeet Singh Parihar, General Manager NHIDCL Parveen Ahlawat, besides other concerned officers and officials.
During the inspectional visit, GM NHIDCL apprised the Deputy Commissioner about the current status of the survey for the widening of existing NH-244 and also enlightened about the hurdles and bottlenecks faced by executing agencies.
Meanwhile, the land owners demanded to revisit the alignment of the approach road to the proposed Singhpora tunnel as the current alignment was passing through a major chunk of irrigated land and engulfing residential houses thereby causing huge losses to locals.
Interacting with the locals, the Deputy Commissioner said that this Highway, on completion, would serve as an all weather road and sought the cooperation and coordination of locals in this regard. He assured that their genuine issues and demands would be forwarded to the concerned authorities for prompt action so that the work on the widening project was completed.
