DC, team trek 12 hours to reach remote Kuntwara to listen public grievances

KISHTWAR, Nov 1: The two-day tour of Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Dr. Devansh Yadav and his team to the far-flung Kuntwara area of District Kishtwar concluded successfully today.
The tour, characterized by extensive trek of 12 hours to and fro, was undertaken by Deputy Commissioner along with his team of officers to reach the remotest Kuntwara area.
Historically, since 1947, even though many officials have undertaken visits to the area, it is for the first time a Deputy Commissioner reached Shandri Panchayat of Kuntwara area. This marked a significant step in addressing local grievances and promoting developmental initiatives by district Administration Kishtwar.
The entourage consisted of ACD, Manoj Kumar, AD FCS&CA Shafkat Keen, CMO, Dr M Y Mir, Chief Agriculture officer, Amjad Hussain Malik, BDO Drabshalla, Naib Tehsildars, AEE PMGSY besides officials and field functionaries of other line departments.
During the two day visit, a public grievances redressal camp was held in Batkoot village of Kuntwara, in line with the Weekly Block Diwas program. The camp was attended by numerous local residents, prominent personalities, and local Panchayati Raj Institution (PRIs) members.
Besides, the Camp was attended by BDC Chairman Drabshalla Suraj Singh, District officers, AEE Jal Shakti Naveed Ahmed and officials and field functioning of revenue and RDD and agriculture, Revenue and other line departments.
During the public grievance redressal camp, the PRIs highlighted their concerns related to upgradation of local infrastructure in water, power, road, healthcare, education, agriculture sectors.
Deputy Commissioner Dr. Devansh Yadav, after patient listening, assured timely redressal of grievances and resolved several issues on the spot through coordination with relevant department officials.
In the camp, the Plans were discussed to expedite PMGSY survey for the Ohli Shandri road and enhance road connectivity in the area. PWD authorities were directed to accelerate the construction of the Kahaie road under NABARD.
The Deputy Commissioner committed to establishing a Red Cross Emergency Health Center with a nurse and pharmacist within one month, as well as the coordination of an Ayush Center in the area.
Besides speaking on the occasion,the Deputy Commissioner assured that Winter tuition facilities for remote villages of Kuntwara in the upcoming winter season would improve education access.
Meanwhile, a visit to GHS Bhatkoot Kuntwara by the Deputy Commissioner revealed the need for school repairs and better lighting facilities. The matter was forwarded for immediate attention.
Also, the DC emphasised the need to activate school management committees for ensuring community driven school education monitoring in the area.
On the occasion directions were also passed by Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar to expedite the Ongoing water supply schemes under the Jal Jeevan Mission to ensure tap water access to every household.
Speaking on the occasion the DC Kishtwar encouraged the youth and common masses to avail themselves of HADP, PMMVY, AVSAR initiative of govt for their benefit.
