LEH, Nov 28: Deputy Commissioner (DC), Prasanna Ramaswamy G conducted three days tour of the remote Changthang area which borders China.
During the tour, DC visited forward areas like Demjok and Chumur overlooking the Line of Actual Control with China. The state of development was reviewed alongwith the impact of Central Government Schemes like Border Area Development Programme.
Various issues being faced by the residents of these forward areas vis-à-vis various security forces like the Indian Army and ITBP were also brought to the notice of the DC. The hurdles being created by the security forces in the implementation of developmental activities was also brought to the notice of the DC.
These areas are not only extremely remote in terms of road connectivity and communication lines but also hostile in terms of climate and terrain. That tour was part of the need assessment and planning exercise for development of the district.
