JAMMU, Dec 2: District Congress Committee Jammu Urban has expressed serious concern over the pitiable and miserable condition in Govt Medical College and Super-Specialty Hospitals of Jammu city.
A meeting of District Congress Committee (Urban) Jammu was held here today at party office Shaheedi Chowk here under the chairmanship of its president Anil Chopra. All the participants expressed their concern and deep anguish over the miserable and poor condition of GMC Hospital, Jammu.
While speaking on the occasion Chopra said that few days back on the complaint of general public and the patients of GMC that the hospital administration is not able to provide them the proper medical facility, even the patients were not able to get the first aid facility and the patients need to get the medicines from outside as the hospital haven’t sufficient stock. The swift action was taken by the District Congress Committee and a team of DCC functionaries led by him visited the hospital and interacted with patients and attendants and getting the feedback of the worst medical facility and poor sanitation of the hospital, they discussed this serious issue with the Hospital Superintendant and Principal of the GMC, Jammu.
He said that after few days of this incidence, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti had a surprise visit to the hospital premises and noticed the same condition. The CM expressed displeasure over the poor sanitation in the hospital including the condition of wash rooms, beds, bedding and other material and directed improvement in the same. The CM even attached the Medical Superintendent of the hospital. This shows the failure of the ruling party in all the fronts specially in the Health and Medical Department.
The DCC demanded resignation of the Health Minister and said that affective measures be taken to improve the health condition in the hospitals of the State.
Prominent among those who attended the meeting included ML Malagar, PS Chouhan, Dr Ramakant Khajuria, J L Koul, Mian Nazir Ahmed, Naresh Maini, Gourav Chopra, Parshotam Mehra, Camres Davit, Manmohan Sharma, Jyoti Vaid and Ashu Mehra.
