JAMMU, Feb 18: The office of Lieutenant Governor has impressed upon all the Deputy Commissioners to recommend the cases of only patients who are suffering from life consuming diseases such as heart, kidney and liver ailments only for consideration of Medical/Financial assistance under J&K Medical Aid Trust Scheme.
According to a circular in this regard, issued today by Arun Kumar Mehta, Financial Commissioner, Finance Department and Chairman of the Medical Aid Trust Scheme, the patients suffering from other ailments/minor diseases be considered under Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana Scheme of Central Government by the concerned Deputy Commissioners for which medical treatment is available free of cost.
The circular was necessitated in view of the fact that while examining the cases of patients recommended by concerned Deputy Commissioners for sanction of Medical/Financial assistance under J&K Medical Aid Trust Scheme in favour of poor and indignant patients, it was observed by the committee that DCs recommend cases of those patients who are suffering from minor ailments/diseases.
“The committee shall like to enjoin upon all concerned that only those cases, which relate to life consuming diseases be recommended under the scheme and other cases may be considered under Ayuishman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana Scheme of the Central Government, under which medical treatment is available free of cost,” reads the circular.
