The District Development Boards play an important role in the development of districts of the State. But these Boards have remained in controversy for one reason or the other. Actually, the political parties, especially the political party in power, have used them as political organs for achieving their vested interests.
During Board meetings, members usually indulge in brawls, scuffles or are not attended to by the concerned.With the result, no worthwhile work is transacted. Instead of solving issues in hand, the stakeholders give rise to another problems.There have been instances when Board meeting had to be postponed. or cancelled. These Boards are ideal platforms for planning the development of districts, and incase these are not conducted in a proper manner, these will lose relevance, and it will give a serious blow to the district development planning.
The political parties are urged to maintain sanctity of DDBs in the interest of public welfare.
