KATHUA, Apr 10: DDC Chairman Kathua Col Mahan Singh inaugurated widening work of 9 kilometer long Thein to Basantpur road.
The road will be widened and blacktopped at an estimated cost of Rs 22 crores. The work under PWD Division Kathua is likely to be completed by Triple Ess Construction Company by May 2023.
DDC Chairman was accompanied by DDC Member Dr Shaveta Kumari, Sarpanch Basantpur Soni Sunita, Ex Sarpanch Theinan Singh and others. Employees of Triple Ess Construction Company and PWD (R&B) Divisison Kathua were also present on the occasion.
While speaking on the occasion, Col Mahan expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, MoS PMO Dr Jitendra Singh, JK UT Lt Governor Manoj Sinha for their concentrated efforts to improve road infrastructure in remote areas. He asserted that since this entire 9 kilometer road stretch will pass through Thein Wild Life Century, all care will be taken to protect the wildlife. He added that six under crossing have been planned for free crossing of wild animals.
The long pending demand of people and daily commuters has been addressed with widening and improvement of said road, he said, adding that widening of said road stretch will complete the widening of Kathua-Basohli road upto Mahanpur.
