DDC Chairman presides over Block Diwas proceeding at block Mahanpur

KATHUA, JULY 31: As part of Public Outreach Programme of the government to listen and redress the issues/grievances of people, the Chairman District Development Council Kathua, Col (Retd) Mahan Singh today presided over Block Diwas Camp here.

The camp witnessed individuals and deputations headed by PRI members projecting demands and apprising DDC Chairman about the problems faced by the inhabitants of their respective areas.

The people of Mahanpur and adjoining areas put forth issues concerning their areas which mainly includes demand related to low voltage, repair of roads, upgradation of schools, fill up the vacant posts of teaching staff, upgradation of electric transformers, road connectivity, bifurcation of ration Cards, demands for filling up of faculty of geography, botany and computer subjects in GDC Mahanpur etc.

After giving a patient hearing to the grievances and demands of the public, the DDC Chairman said PRIs and Officers of stakeholder departments have to work in unison to achieve desired development goals.

He said the government has opened ample opportunities to uplift the socio-economic conditions of the people by giving proper handholding in sectors concerning the larger sections of the society including youth and women folks.

The Chairman DDC also said after the abrogation of Article-370, the UT administration has opened multitude of Public Outreach Platforms in the shape of Block Diwas, B2V and Public Darbar to get first hand appraisal of public issues and demands.

The Chairman informed that over 7000 development works have been completed in the last three years of District Capex where DDC council has taken up popular developmental demands of the people. He said this year also over 1500 works will be taken up the carry forward the development trajectory across Kathua.

Regarding the issue of water scarcity, the Chairman DDC asked the Jal Shakti Department to explore alternate sources of Water where earlier identified source become inadequate to cater demands.

Col (Retd) Mahan Singh further said that all the genuine issues raised during the Block Diwas shall be resolved by concerned departments within prescribed time. The directions were also passed to the sectoral officers for resolution of the issues on priority basis.

Earlier, the DDC Chairman gave away Two Power Tillers amongst the beneficiaries of Agriculture Department extending 50% subsidy of ₹1.80 lakh. Besides, 10 vermibed were also distributed among the beneficiaries with 80% subsidy of ₹25000 sponsored by the Agriculture Department.

On the occasion, 14 stalls of different departments were installed which got curious attention of the locals.

Among others, Additional District Development Commissioner Kathua, DDC Mahanpur Tejinder Singh, Chief Planning Officer, Chief Agriculture Officer, Tehsildar, BDO, sectoral officers were present on the occasion.
