RAJOURI, Feb 1: Deepening further the outreach initiative, the District Development Council Chairman Rajouri, Choudhury Naseem Liaqat today visited village Kangergali in Panchayat Ujhan of block Darhal and took stock of the issues and demands of the local public.
The public and their representatives apprised the Chairman about scores of issues pertaining to water scarcity, macadamization of roads, upgradation of schools, better health services, paucity of staff in Govt institutions besides other related issues were projected on the occasion.
Specific issues included delay in execution of panchayat level works, water scarcity, exaggerated electricity bills, completion of mechanical work on water supply scheme at Ujhan and other issues.
Addressing the participants, the DDC Chairman said that his council is committed to bring the governance at the doorsteps of the general public and has initiated numerous reforms to cater to the developmental needs of the people with special focus on public participation in the developmental process.
Underlining the purpose of his visit, he said that such visits are made to listen to the grievances of the people at their doorstep and assess the local developmental needs at grassroots level, examine the demands and provide feasible solutions.
Motivating the public to avail the benefits of the welfare schemes and programs, he urged the locals to take maximum benefits out of the schemes initiated by the Government for their individual well being.
Stressing upon the close coordination between the Administrative unit and PRIs, he advised the public to collectively resolve their issues with PRI members and Officials for the speeding up development process of their respective areas.
Highlighting the importance of Panchayat Raj Institutions in public welfare, the DDC Chairman said that by strengthening the Panchayat Raj Institutions people have been empowered to prepare all developmental plans of their local areas and monitor their implementation and execution on ground.
While addressing the issues and demands of the general public, he also exhorted the officers to take immediate measures to mitigate the problems of the people highlighted during the public outreach programme.
Responding to the issue of exaggerated electricity bills, he assured the public that he will take up the matter with the concerned authorities.
Regarding the issue of delay in the execution of mechanical work on the water supply scheme at Ujhan, he informed that the tenders for the work will be floated soon.
He also assured that two hand pumps would also be installed in the ward No. 1 and 2 of the panchayat to mitigate the woes of the public.
Similarly, for other issues and demands, the Chairman also gave on the spot directions to the concerned departments for taking necessary steps to meet the genuine demands of the local people.
