KISHTWAR, Jan 24: Demanding employment to the local youths in hydro electric power project, DDC Chairperson Pooja Thakur continued her protest.
Despite cold weather conditions, DDC Chairperson and her supporters are sitting on protest at Dangdoru.
From the past around one week, Pooja Thakur and her supporters are continuing their protest demanding that people from the area be hired as workers at the under-construction 1,000-MW Pakal Dul hydro-electric power project at Dangdoru.
While speaking, Thakur said that the company engaged for the construction of 1,000-MW Pakal Dul hydro-electric power project at Dangdoru are ignoring locals.
“We demanded engagement of locals in 1,000-MW Pakal Dul hydro-electric power project at Dangdoru and will continue our sit-in protest till our demand is not redressed”, she asserted.
Meanwhile Former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah tweeted, “Chairperson of the Kishtwar DDC has been protesting since last week. All she is asking is that local people of the area be employed in the power projects under construction in the district. It’s a shame that something like this should require a protest”.
