JAMMU, June 12: District Development Council (DDC) Chairperson for Ramban district Dr Shamshad Shan has written to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to direct his Advisors and Administrative Secretaries to take the Chairpersons into confidence and invite them to the functions under due protocol whenever they visit the districts.
Dr Shan said only today an Administrative Secretary was scheduled to hold a function without her presence in Batote in Ramban district. However, she added, when she resented, the function was cancelled.
Dr Shamshad Shan said the Advisors and the Administrative Secretaries must know that now there is a democratically elected Panchayati Raj System in place and the DDC chairpersons enjoy the rank of Minister of State. Therefore, the Administrative Secretary can’t hold function in the district without even inviting the DDC chairperson.
“It is regrettable that we have to bring all such issues into the notice of the Lieutenant Governor every time. Directions must be issued to all in the administration to maintain protocol of the DDC chairpersons,” she said.
