KUPWARA, June 16: District Development Commissioner, Kupwara Khalid Jahangir conducted an extensive tour to assess and review the status of different ongoing developmental projects like Hatmulla-Drugmulla Bridge, Food Store Hatmulla, Sub Centre Hatmulla, NTPCH Nagree, Playfield Jagerpora, Vodhpora Bridge, WSS Maidanpora-Braripora, Hatchery at Maidanpora.
The concerned Sectoral Officers and head of the institutions briefed the DDC about the progress of various ongoing development projects under execution in different parts of Handwara area. While, inspecting the Govt Higher Secondary School Hatmulla, the DDC directed CEO Kupwara to propose construction of additional classrooms during the financial year, keeping in view the scarcity of adequate accommodation in the school.
On inspection of Hatmulla-Drugmulla Bridge and Shatwari Nagree Bridge, the DGM JK PCC informed that said bridges are being constructed under NABARD funding. However, due to paucity of funds, the progress has been slow. The DDC instructed DGM JKPCC to expedite the pace of work for ensuring early completion of these projects.
During the inspection of Food Store Hatmulla, the DDC instructed AD(Food Civil Supplies and C.A Kupwara, to take up the matter of release of funds for repairing the building with the higher authorities. He also directed BMO Kupwara to take up leveling and beautification for the available space at the front of the NTPHC Nagree.
The DDC directed the Executive Engineer R&B Handwara for completion of High School Jagerpora within two months. He was also directed to improve the quality for finishing work in the building.
While taking stock of construction of Hatchery at Maidanpora, the DDC was informed by the Executive Engineer R&B Division Handwara, that the work on the project amounting to Rs 2.80 crore has been taken up recently . The Executive Engineer was called upon to take due care of landscaping and external development as per the natural contours of the site.
On inspection of Girls Hostel Zachaldara (Govt HSS Zachaldara) the executing agency was directed to augment the manpower and other resources on the site and ensure completion of the work by October, 2017.
While inspecting the playground being constructed by the Sports Council in Govt High School Jagerpora, it was observed that there are visible gaps in the execution of the project, like flawed construction of pavilion toward the foothill on the near, which need to be rectified. The DDC instructed the Addl. Deputy Commissioner, Handwara to advise the concerned to explain the layout and keep the execution of the work on hold.
Besides, a number of delegations met the DDC at various locations for seeking redressal of their grievances which mainly related to availability of drinking water,etc. On the spot, instructions were issued to concerned authorities to take immediate steps for addressing the problems faced by the general public.
