DDC convenes public meetings at Panchari, Khorgali

Udhampur, May 20: More than 5000 people from 13 Panchayats participated in public meeting cum grievance redressal camps organised by District Administration, Udhampur at Panchari, Meer and Khorgali. The meetings were organised for inclusion of demands in village development plans under convergence and better public service delivery.
Deputy Commissioner, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary presided over the meetings along with all District and Sectoral Officers of departments and various projects. More than 6 public meetings and visits to a dozen villages were organised during the three-day field tour of entire district administration in Panchari-Moungri region of district.
Sarpanchs, Panchs, members of village committees, women, students and representatives of various hamlets, wards and villages participated in the public meetings. A large number of demands were raised by general public and representatives. Discussions were also held on development plans of villages and panchayats under convergence of Centrally Sponsored Schemes and various works were finalised as per demands raised by the public.
During public meetings of inhabitants of Prand, Damnote, Basnote, Ladda and Lalli, a number of works were finalised which included construction of ration depot and health sub-centre in Prand, creation of 25KVA stations, advance storage of ration, provision of teaching faculty in various schools, clearing and extension of Khorgali-Baryote road, inclusion of left over areas under PMGSY, additional infrastructure for schools and health buildings, construction new link roads in Khorgali, Damnote, construction of 6 additional bridges under Project Rahat and provision of solar lights in uncovered hamlets.
At Panchari, Sarpanchs and representatives from 9 Panchayats projected their demands and proposals. PWD was asked for blacktopping of Panchari town and PMGSY for furnishing proposal for blacktopping Sankri-Devta road. Demands related to capacity building of various schools in Meer, Galiote, Sadota, Badota and Lander were also discussed.
The DC informed about plan of District Administration under “Panchayat Tourism” for attracting tourists for camping and trekking for which team is working on field. He proposed for initiating a Community Degree College in Panchari for which matter will be taken up with Higher Education Department.
