DDC discusses measures for tourism promotion

Reasi, Dec 19: In an endeavor to increase tourism in the district, a meeting with leading tour operators of the district, was held under the chairmanship of District Development Commissioner Reasi, Sushma Chauhan, who is also Vice Chairperson, Shri Shiv Khori Shrine Board (SSKSB).
The meeting was organized by Shri Shiv Khori Shrine Board (SSKSB) for promotion of pilgrimage at Holy cave at Shivkhori, in particular & at other tourist spots like Aghar Jittoo, Naun Devian, Baba Dhansar, Dera Baba Bandha Bhadur, Siarh Baba, Shri Shiv Paryag Salal  in general.
The meeting was attended by  Addl. Deputy Commissioner Reasi, Shiv Kumar Gupta, OSD SMVDSB Katra, Rajinder Singh, Asstt. Director Tourism Jammu, Dr Umesh Shaan, ARTO, Naib Tehsildar Ransoo,   President Hotel & Restaurant Association Katra, Rakesh Wazir, large number of tourists operators & other agencies related to tourism industry.
Executive Officer SSKSB, Mr Mahesh Sharma presented the brief note about Shivkhori & other adjoining tourist spots.
Vice Chairperson SSKSB stressed upon for providing better facilities to the tourists so that a good message will spread across the country & abroad and more & more tourists would be attracted to the shrine. DC assured that every possible help from the district administration, SSKSB & other related departments like Information & Tourism would be provided. She also assured them that their genuine demands would be sorted early on priority. In order to promote  tourism in the holy cave, DDC constituted  six member committee for weekly interaction, providing suggestions etc to improve the pilgrimage in the holy Shiv Khori shrine.
The discussions were also held on various issues which mainly include  adequate drinking water supply, power supply, medicare, sanitation, security, transport, accommodation repair of road, checking of essentials rates ,parking of vehicle, advertisement of mela through hoarding and sign boards etc for the Shiv Khori mela, commencing in February. The developmental activities were also discussed with the executing agencies like Tourism & PWD.
Earlier, the problems being faced by the tour operators/travel agents like road connectivity, sanitation, transportation of passengers from Bus stand to Darshani Deodi at Ransoo were highlighted in the meeting.
