DDC expresses concern over slow pace of work on Devika project

UDHAMPUR, Oct 28: District Development Commissioner, Dr Piyush Singla, today convened a meeting of executing agencies and concerned departments to review the progress on pollution abatement of river Devika and Tawi under National River Conservation Plan (NRCP).
Chief Engineer UEED, Ashwani Anand, Chief Planning Officer, Rajeev Bhushan, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Vikar Giri, Executive Engineer UEED and concerned district officers, engineers and contractors were present in the meeting.
It was decided in the meeting that AEE UEED will remain stationed at Udhampur for regular monitoring of the project.
Expressing concern over slow pace of progress on construction works of Devika prestigious project, the DDC exhorted upon the executing agencies to strengthen the manpower and the machinery for speedy execution and completion of the vital work.
It was also decided in the meeting that some tangible assets will be created under IEC activity of Devika project. In this regard, the DDC hinted at construction of a park near Devika Ghat in place of PHE store.
DDC directed the Executive Engineer PHE, to shift the PHE store from Devika Ghat to Malhar Morh for which land has already been allotted to the department.
Later, the DDC along with Chief Engineer UEED and other officers visited the site of proposed park near Devika Ghat.
DDC also visited Malhar and directed the authorities to expedite the shifting process of PHE store and submit the report within 15 days.
The DDC stressed upon the officers for strict adherence to the prescribed timeline for completion of this prestigious project.
