DDC holds interaction with Sarpanchs

Samba, May 3: Deputy Commissioner Samba R.K Verma today had an interactive meeting of Sarpanchs of Samba and Ghagwal block.
The DDC said that the objective of the interaction was to assess the genuine problems being faced by the people of rural and border areas of the district, so that these could be addressed to the extent possible, while formulating current year’s District Plan and Action Plan under Border Area Development Programme (BADP).
The Sarpanchs projected various problems and demands like better road connectivity, adequate availability of ration, encroachment of community lands in panchayat halqas etc. The Sarpanchs also requested that the PRIs should be fully empowered and involved in the process of planning and monitoring of development works in their Panchayat Halqas.
The DDC appealed the Sarpanchs to monitor the developmental works and functioning of Government institutions at panchayat halqa level, as devolved to the Panchayati Raj Institutions by the Government.
The DDC assured them that the problems projected by them will be looked into and all efforts will be made to ensure the sanctity of Panchayati Raj Institutions.
The meeting among others was attended by Chief Planning Officer-Sant Ram, Project Officer, DRDA-Kalyan Singh, Assistant Commissioner Development Mohd. Farooq Bhat, BDO Ghagwal-Naresh Kumar.
