DDC inaugurates 3-day Sudhmahadev Mela

UDHAMPUR, June 22: District Development Commi-ssioner, Udhampur, Yasha Mudgal,  in presence of  MLA, Chenani, K.C. Bhagat, today inaugurated 3-day Historic Sudhmahadev Mela in Chenani tehsil.
The 3-day mela got underway amidst colourful festivity as thousands of devotees thronged the Sudhmahadev temple shrine to seek the blessing of Lord Shiva on the first day.
The devotees took bath in the Beenisangam called Budhisudhi rivulet. The stream flows from top of the Dhar Shivgarh and is considered as an abode of   saints. The devotees also took bath in ‘Pap Nashni bowli’- a spring outside the temple. It is said that a holy dip in this spring shuns all evils.
Joint Director Planning, Rakesh Jamwal,  SDPO, DySP, Gian Chand, Tehsildar Chenani, (Mela Officer), S.N. Suman,  officers of different departments, tourists, pilgrims, prominent citizens and Local Mela Committee members were also present on the occasion.
District administration has made elaborate arrangements for the smooth conduct of the Mela like uninterrupted power, safe drinking water, sanitation, medicare,  control room, assistance both besides adequate security at the mela site, while various departments including Agriculture, Horticulture, Health, National Rural Health Mission, Apiculture, Handicraft, Handloom and Animal Husbandry have put up their stalls to educate the masses about various State and Centrally sponsored schemes especially for socio economic upliftment of the rural people.
