DDC inaugurates historic Baba Yugdhar Mela

UDHAMPUR, May 31: The day long historic Baba Yugdhar  Mela today commenced with the ritual bathing of the Devta which was followed by Navgraha Poojan and finally the Aarti of Baba Yug Dev was performed  in  Panchayat Satyalta tehsil Chenani of district Udhampur.
District Development Commissioner Udhampur Ravinder Kumar was the chief guest who formally  inaugurated the Mela on the occasion.
The Mela is being organized by Yugdhar Devsthan Development Trust  Chenani in collaboration with District Administration Udhampur. During the mela, thousands of people attired in traditional and colourful dresses thronged the mela site to offer prayers and seek blessings of their revered deity for overall peace and prosperity. While extended his greetings the people on the occasion, DDC said that such festivals not only fulfill our religious aspirations and getting spiritual bliss but people hailing from different areas get a chance to interact together and share their experiences and joys.
He also extended his good wishes to the people on this auspicious day and hoped that such type of Mela would   bring peace, prosperity and harmony in the district.
The District Administration Udhampur has made adequate arrangements of drinking water facility, medicare, electricity, sanitation, transport etc. To educate the people about various State and centrally sponsored Government schemes, different departments have put up their stalls at the mela site. During the mela, students of  different schools participated in various activities. Cultural programs were also presented by the local artists on the occasion.
Later, DDC had a round of stalls installed by various departments for general awareness of different schemes. He called upon the officers to make their sincere and dedicated efforts to make the general public aware about the different Central and State Government schemes like Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Swachh Bharat Mission etc  made especially for the uplift of ruralities.
