Kathua, Aug 27: District Development Commissioner, Dr. Raghav Langer today reviewed the damages to the public infrastructure due to recent heavy rains at a joint meeting of revenue officers and engineers of the line departments.
The meeting was attended by ADC, Ghanshyam Singh, ADC Basohli, T R Thapa, CPO, Uttam Singh, ACR, Devinder Paul, SDM Bani, Joginder Singh, SDM Hiranagar, Suresh Kumar, SE Hydraulic, SE PDD, Executive Engineers of PWD, PHE, PMGSY, EM & RE beside other officers.
The DDC reviewed the sector wise damages occurred to the public infrastructure including roads, bridges, water supply schemes, distribution lines, power supply lines, pumping stations, tube wells etc and the restoration works carried out by the departments.
The departments were emphasized to ensure that all the roads in the district are restored on immediate basis and made motorable, water and power supply lines made functional besides taking flood protection measures and de-watering of waterlogged areas of the city.
The Executive Engineer (Mech), Irrigation Construction Division, Jammu was directed to provide two mobile de-watering pump sets to Municipal Council, Kathua for drainage of flood water.
The DDC underlined the need for immediate restoration of services and any prompt reporting of damages to the control rooms set up for the purpose at District, Sub Division and at Tehsil Level.
The officers were enjoined upon to strictly adhere to the standard operating procedures for State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) and get the damaged works verified by the District Level Interdisciplinary Committee constituted for the purpose. The departments were asked to furnish the realistic estimates of the damaged infrastructure for accord of administrative approval.
They were asked to ensure that the proposals are in line with the standing guidelines and are not covered under any other Head/Scheme and the defect liability period of the contractor.
The revenue officers and the engineers of the line departments were directed to be more pro-active in dealing with the disasters and hazard risk management and maintain proper inter departmental co-ordination.
