Jammu, Feb 19: Chairperson District Development Council Kishtwar Pooja Thakur held a meeting at Kishtwar regarding the construction of hydro power projects in District Kishtwar today
The meeting was attended by General Manager CVPPL Pakkal Dul Kishtwar, General Manager CVPPL Kiru, General Manager CVPPL Kwar, Executive Director Ratle Hydro electric Power Limited Drabshallah Kishtwar, District Mining Officer Kishtwar, District Pollution Control Officer Kishtwar, Assistant Director Fisheries Kishtwar, Divisional Forest Officer Kishtwar, and Divisional Forest Officer Marwah.
The Chairperson raised several queries with regard to disposal/dumping of construction waste into the rivers/Nallas and cracks caused to the buildings due to blasting.
During the meeting, Thakur inquired about the measures that the executing project companies have implemented for the protection of the environment,Fish Fauna,cracks in the residential houses of people and Pollution from construction activities and hydro electric operation which have severe consequences. It is evident that these issues are having a negative impact on the environment and local community.
The Chairperson took serious note of it and strongly urged all the heads present in the meeting to take immediate measures to prevent further harm. It is important to prioritise the well-being of the residents, environment, Fish Fauna and pollution which are directly affected by the Projects.
The officers Heads present in the meeting assured the Chairperson that the necessary preventive measures will be taken to monitor and address the issues associated with the execution of Hydro Power Projects.
