DDC Kishtwar chairs meeting of District Environmental Committee

KISHTWAR Jan 21: District Development Commissioner, Angrez Singh Rana chaired a meeting with members and co-opted members of District Environmental Committee to discuss the various issues pertaining to the conservation and management of natural environment in the district.
Additional District Development Commissioner, Mohd Hanief Malik, Additional Deputy Commissioner , Pawan Parihar, Assistant Commissioner Development, Kishore Singh Katoch, CEO Kuldeep Sharma, DFO Sagar Singh, CMO Dr. Ravinder Manhas besides other District Officers of Pollution Control Board, Geology & Mining, Animal & Sheep Husbandry, PHE, Fisheries and BDOs were present in the meeting.
During the threadbare discussions, all the members and co-opted members of DEC were directed to go through the National Green Tribunal Guidelines and ensure that the directions are implemented in letter and spirit on the ground.
DDC directed Executive Officer Municipal Committee to take concrete steps in segregation of waste and hand over the segregated waste to the Pollution Control Board which shall ensure its safe disposal.
He further directed to Block Development Officers and District Officer of Pollution Control Board to identify a person who shall collect the waste from the rural areas and will hand it over to the PCB for safe disposal.
DDC said that the DPR for the construction of Bio Medical Waste Treatment Plant in the premises of District Hospital shall be completed expediently.
He asked the Executive Engineers of PMGSY and PWD to use 10% plastic in Bitumen for macadamization of roads to ensure that the polythene and plastic bottles are disposed off safely in the district.
He also passed directions regarding steps to be taken for collection and safe disposal of hazardous waste, industrial waste management, air quality management, noise pollution management.
