KISHTWAR, Apr 9: In its ongoing efforts to prevent COVID-19 outbreak, District Development Commissioner Rajinder Singh Tara today inaugurated the disinfection tunnels at District Hospital Kishtwar and DC office.
The disinfection tunnels have been installed by Municipal Council Kishtwar which has become the first urban local body in UT of J&K to install such disinfection tunnels at places of heavy foot fall.
Executive Officer, Municipal Council Kishtwar, Tariq Balwan informed that these tunnels are fitted with small electrical pumps which will spray the disinfectants/sanitizers when any persons walks through it and will sanitize his/her clothes, shoes, hands, face etc against the COVID-19 virus and other germs.
Furthermore Medical Superintendent DH Dr. Tariq Parveez said that this tunnel has been installed in order to ensure the disinfection and sanitization of all the medical, paramedical staff, attendants, patients, visitors and even patients, thereby helping in preventing the transmission of COVID-19 infection in District Hospital.
On the occasion, DDC commended the Municipal Council Kishtwar and their engineers who have designed, installed and operationalized these decontamination tunnels within a short span of time besides he also reiterated that district administration is working on universal usage of masks for which thousands of masks are prepared and distributed daily.
He also appealed to the people of Kishtwar to follow lock down religiously and use mask, practice frequent hand washing, boost immunity and follow various advisories of the Government for prevention from this disease.
He also asked people not to pay any head to the rumors and misinformation circulating on the social media and download “ *Aarogya setu* “App for contact tracing.
Additional Deputy Commissioner, Pawan Parihar, President Municipal Council, Kishtwar Riyaz Ahmed Zargar, Chief Medical Officer Dr. R S Manhas, Medical Superintendent District Hospital, Dr. Tariq Parveez besides other Councilors and officials were present on the occasion.
