Addressing the media, she stated that her victory in the DDC elections was celebrated by the party, as she was the only woman who won on a BJP ticket.
However, she said, now that the people wanted a real representative, she, along with several other senior leaders, has been sidelined.
“In 2020, I was elected as a DDC member on a BJP ticket. My win was celebrated by the party as I was the only woman candidate winning in Kashmir. With the list of candidates now out, I feel disheartened,” she said.
Mina expressed that those who have been included in the list “do not even deserve” it. “Aside from me, there are several senior leaders who have worked for the party who have been sidelined,” she added.
“I am now resigning from the party’s basic membership; I fail to understand who they have chosen. At the same time, I am not satisfied with what has been done,” she said.
Mina noted that working in the Kakapora constituency as a BJP leader “was difficult,” and now that the situation has changed, people had expectations and wanted a representative who would work for them.
She emphasized that what has happened is a “great loss,” stressing that the BJP, which used to claim ‘sabka saath,’ “did not stand with us.”
