JAMMU, June 9: Senior BJP leader and DDC Member Suresh Sharma today kick started the construction work of a new GSR having capacity of 50,000 gallons at a approximate cost of Rs 21 lakh.
Speaking on the occasion, Suresh Sharma reminded the public that ex-Health Minister Govind Ram Sharma got constructed a water supply scheme 50 years ago for Panchayat Maira Mandrian and public got its benefit so far and never felt any major problem related to drinking water.
“As now the need of water is increasing day by day, work on a new scheme at an cost of Rs 5.87 crore under Jal Jeevan Mission is going on war footing in the area,” he said, adding under this scheme, a GSR of capacity 50,000 gallons at village Maira Jagir and a GSR of 30,000 gallons at village Mandrian will be construed and the supply from these GSRs will benefit villages namely Mundh, Maira Jagir, Rehani Jagwal and Mandrian where the laying of new pipelines for Rs 2.65 crore has been completed and a new tube well will also be constructed.
On this occasion, AEE Rajiv Kumar (Jal Shakti Department), BJP Mandal president Dr Ram Lal Sharma, maha mantri Master Chanchal Singh, ex-sarpanch Tarlochan Duty, Mandal vice president Ashok Sharma, Vijay Singh, Romesh Chander, Ram Lal, Tarsem Lal, Ravi Kumar, Sanjeev Singh, Sunil Kumar and many other prominent persons were present.
