JAMMU, Jan 6: DDC member from Surankote Mohd Shahnawaz Choudhary today called on Farooq Khan, Advisor to Lt Governor of J&K and apprised him about the problems of the people of Surankote, particularly related to CAPD and Social Welfare Departments.
Shahnawaz told Farooq Khan that hundreds of families who are actually below poverty line are deprived of getting free Government ration. Being poor, these families have been struggling for their survival as they don’t have any other source of income. He demanded the inclusion of all poor families in the BPL category list on priority.
The DDC members also raised the issues of old age and widow pension and said that all the deserving people should get the pension benefits on priority as lot of people are still deprived of the pension benefits. He requested the Advisor to take immediate steps to redress these matters which falls under his ambit.
Farooq Khan gave a patient hearing and assured Shahnawaz to redress the issues on priority.
