REASI, Feb 12: The Kissan Mela cum Exhibition function was inaugurated by Indu Kanwal Chib District Deputy Commissioner, Reasi, here today.
Stalls from Agriculture depicting scientific cultivating practices in the field of Mushroom, Apiculture and soil testing as well as that of Allied Departments such as Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Sheep Husbandry ,Sericulture Handicrafts, Floriculture, various Self Help Groups and Krishi Vigyan Kendra Reasi were laid at the venue to showcase their activities.
The private seed companies also participated in the Mela. The latest machineries including Tractors, Tillers, water lifting devices, drip and sprinkler irrigation system apart from products used in organic farming were also displayed at the Mela site.
During the event, Indu Kanwal Chib, Ravinder Thaploo, CAO Reasi and other dignitaries went round the stalls and directed officers of the all departments to work cohesively for the upliftment of the farming community.
Rajesh Verma District Agriculture Officer briefed the gathering about the purpose as well as importance of holding such exhibition cum Kissan Mela.
Chief Agriculture Officer, Reasi Ravinder Thaploo gave a detailed account of efforts undertaken by Department of Agriculture in promoting culture of scientific farming amongst farmers of the district.
While addressing the gathering, Indu Kanwal impressed upon all the officers to work in co-ordination with the farmers at Panchyat level of their respective area to plan their activities and also emphasized upon the farmers to take maximum benefit from the Centrally sponsored and other schemes.
A total number of 314 samples of different agriculture products, were brought in by the farmers of different area and out of them the best judged samples were given prizes by the DDC Reasi.
Other officers, who were present, included Mukesh Sharma, Chief Horticulture Officer Reasi; Ajay Sharma, Chief Animal Husbandary Officer; AD Fisheries, Romesh Khosa and others also participated in the Exhibition.
