Reasi, Nov 9: District Development Commissioner Reasi, Vishesh Mahajan, conducted a performance review of the Rural Development Department (RDD) in a meeting attended by the ACD, BDOs, Panchayat Inspectors, and Panchayat Accounts Assistants. Emphasising accountability and commitment, DDC Mahajan ordered the immediate suspension of salaries for all RDD staff of Reasi until comprehensive action-taken reports are submitted, aiming to accelerate progress and ensure effective implementation of rural development schemes.
During the meeting, the DDC reviewed the district’s performance in implementing key government schemes such as MGNREGA, PMAY(G), and Capex-funded projects like ABDP and APDP. He emphasized the importance of on-ground work, directing all BDOs to dedicate at least 15 days per month to field visits. He closely examined recent audit reports and instructed BDOs to recommend the termination of any staff found responsible for discrepancies, alongside ensuring timely recovery from defaulters to maintain fiscal discipline.
DDC Mahajan also verified geotagged photos of projects and assets created under these schemes to assess their quality and progress. He tasked the ACD with submitting a detailed report on the quality, timeliness, and any delays in project execution. He further directed low-performing blocks to improve their output, fast-track ongoing works, and achieve tangible results in a timely manner.
