DDC reviews facilities for pilgrims

KATRA, Sept  7: District Development Commissioner, Reasi, Nirmal Sharma convened a meeting of officers to review the facilities being extended to pilgrims besides taking stock of functioning of various departments.
Assistant Commissioner, Revenue, Inderjeet Bhagat, Chief Executive Officer, KDA Satish Verma, Additional Superintendant of Police, Katra, Mohal Lal, Assistant Director Tourism besides Engineers and officers from different departments attended the meeting.
The XEn PWD apprised that work on widening of Katra-Tikri Road costing Rs 8 crore is expected to be completed by March 2013. He further informed that work on upgradation and improvement of Banganga road is in progress which is being done with a cost of Rs 1 crore.
The meeting also discussed the development of new bus stand including approach road, levelling of the area, drinking water, toilet facility, electricity, shelter shed  and parking of vehicles.
The DDC asked the officers and engineers to put in concerned efforts to complete the development works within shortest possible time. She also directed the Assistant Director Tourism Katra to convene a meeting with the hoteliers and tour and travel operators of Katra town with regard to display of tariff of hotels and guest houses and fare charges of different locations being charged by them from the pilgrims.
The Additional SP Katra proposed some measures to regulate the pilgrims traffic smoothly in the town.
Later, the DDC visited new bus stand area and took stock of works being done there.
