KISHTWAR, Oct 28: After assuming charge as Deputy Commissioner, Kishtwar, Ghulam Nabi Balwan today held an introductory meeting with district officers of Kishtwar and discussed various developmental issues with them.
DDC also reviewed performance of various departments in implementation of District Plan 2015-16.
With regard to education sector, DC expressed concern over slow progress on completion of school buildings under SSA in the district.
DC directed for conducting re-orientation courses for elementary teachers and stressed on procurement of text books for free supply to Government schools.
Balwan directed Chief Education Officer, to take up the matter of supply of books with Chairman, State Board of School Education so that all books are procured by end of November this year. He stressed on availability of books especially for students studying in cut off areas of Marwah and Warwan of the district before the onset of winters.
Executive Engineer PWD and Chief Education Officer Kishtwar were asked to galvanize efforts and conduct joint verifications of school buildings being constructed by PWD so that factual position of the status of the work could be ascertained. He asked for coordinated efforts of both the departments to accelerate the pace of work.
The DC also directed Health Department to fast-track procurement of pending supplies of medicines, machinery and equipments for Marwah, Warwan, Dachan and Paddar areas.
The DC also directed CEO and XEn PHE to conduct joint inspections of schools to find out where toilets are dysfunctional because of non supply of water. He asked for taking further necessary steps in this regard once the survey is completed.
PDD was asked to revisit curtailment schedule especially during evening hours for which there is huge demand from the public. To have an alternate power source for Kishtwar in case of any power failure, XEn PDD was also asked to follow process of proposed parallel power supply scheme to Kishtwar and work out the possibility for its finalization.
