DDC reviews Shiv Khori Mela arrangements

REASI, Mar 1: District Development Commissioner Reasi Sushma Chauhan, who is also Vice Chairperson, SSKSB, chaired a meeting of officers to review the arrangements for the three day Maha Shivratri Mela, commencing from March 6 at Ransoo, base camp of  Shiv Khori Shrine.
During the meeting threadbare discussions were held on various issues which mainly include adequate drinking water, power supply, medicare facility, sanitation, security, law and order, traffic control, barricading, transport, accommodation, cultural programmes, PAS system, repair of roads, special checking drive for ensuring quality and rates of eatables during mela, parking of vehicle, installation of hoarding and sign boards, exhibition of stalls by different departments, dangal.
While speaking on the occasion, DDC issued necessary instructions to concerned departments to give festive look to the mela by ensuring facilities to the visiting pilgrims for their comfortable pilgrimage.He directed to the concerned officers for better coordination to make the mela a success. It was informed that sufficient Magistrates will be deployed during the mela days to ensure law & order and manage heavy rush during the mela days. Special stress was given on security, sanitation, transport and other basic facilities for the pilgrims. The Dangal will also be held on the concluding day of the mela.
PHE Department has been asked for proper barricading and availability of drinking water supply at various locations on yatra track.  PWD and PMGSY Departments were directed to carry out improvement of roads for convenience of visiting pilgrims. Elaborate security arrangements have been finalized for management of yatra.
A joint control room having officials of Police, Shrine Board, a Magistrate and representatives of Health, PHE, PDD, RDD, Tourism and other departments will be established at TRC Ransoo for effective coordination. Round the clock, medical facilities will be made available.
CMO Dr Parminder Singh was directed to display the contact number of doctors and medicos at prominent places for information of pilgrims, besides setting up of an emergency medical unit and medical facilities at three places on yatra track.
During the meeting, the Traffic Department was asked to formulate specific sectors for proper management and ARTO will arrange extra mini buses for interior roads. A special inter-departmental squad has been constituted to check overcharging and quality of eatables.
DDC instructed that the Tourism Department is overall coordinator including publicity of events and management of events and asked the RDD for tiling along the stairs for comfort of pilgrims.
