DDC takes stock of Katra people’s problems

KATRA, July 16: District Development Commissioner, Reasi,  Nirmal Sharma convened a    meeting with prominent citizens and representatives of different traders associations of Katra  to  listen their  grievances.
The meeting was attended by Additional S P,  Katra,  Mohan Lal, Assistant Commissioner, Revenue,  Inderjit Bhagat, Deputy Chief Executive Officer , Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, Rashpal, Executive Officer, Municipal Council, Katra ,  Ravi Kumar, officers of various departments, representatives   of different associations, prominent citizens and locals.
During the meeting, the  people projected various demands  including, provision for uninterrupted  power supply,  clean drinking water besides regulation of  cooking gas, proper sanitation and drainage system at Katra town, declaration of Katra as   polythene free zone , installation of public water points, repair of Katra-Panthal-Jajjar road, enhancement of labour charge of Pethu and Pone walas, separate Bhojanyal for Pethu, Pone wala and labourer, proper security of outsiders, removal of  encroachments in Katra town, decongestion of Katra bazaar, repair of bridge over Jajjar nallah, replacement  of non-functional CC TV Cameras   , opening of more yatra slip counters and proper sewerage system etc.
Responding to the demands of the people, the DDC said that   regular supply of electricity would be ensured shortly after the repair of transmission line. She directed the officers of PDD to display the contact telephone Nos of their employees so that the people can  contact them in case of breakdown or emergency.  She asked the PDD functionaries to ensure that the public may not face any inconvenience.
The DDC said that every possible steps would be taken to streamline the working of different departments to help  the people  as well  as to promote the tourism industry.
The DDC instructed the SSP to organize a meeting with the citizens to chalk out the plan regarding decongestion of traffic within a week’s time and submit   report to her office.
She directed the Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board to open more yatra slip counters for the convenience of yarties at different approachable locations.
