KATHUA, Aug 11: District Development Commissioner Ramesh Kumar conducted tour of flood affected areas of sub-division Hiranagar to take stock of damages and ongoing restoration work.
During his tour, he visited Pathwal, Tangdev Pura, Chhan Ghati where damages have been reported due to incessant rains and flash floods.
The DDC issued on-the-spot instructions to SE Hydraulic Circle Kathua Ashok Gandotra to take up the protection work of the land in Pathwal area where a portion of land has been washed away by floods during recent heavy rains. He also visited Gau-Shala and Gujjar Basti of village Pathwal and passed instructions to Flood Control Department for early completion of temporary restoration works.
While at Tangdev Pura, DDC visited the site of 200 Mtrs protection Bund which was severely affected by the flash floods resulting in land erosion. On spot directions were passed to Flood Control Department to prepare DPR for permanent restoration.
DDC also directed SDM Hiranagar Sohan Lal to ensure proper vigil on water levels and issue time to time alert to avert any loss of life and property. He asked the concerned officers to identify locations for rehabilitation of shifted flood affected families if the need arises. He also directed SE Hydraulic to speed up the temporary restoration work and submit the detail project report for permanent restoration for onward submission to higher authorities.
The DDC also directed SDM Hiranagar to keep the men and machinery ready to meet any eventuality and also asked the officers not to leave the station without prior permission during rainy season.
Assistant Commissioner Development Kathua Dr Sunil Sharma, XEn Flood Control Samba & Kathua also accompanied the DDC during the visit.
