DEA highlights demands, warns agitation

JAMMU, Sept 25: Diploma Engineers Association (DEA) today warned to launch an agitation if 69 posts of AEs under carrier progression in Power Development Department (PDD) are not filled with in diploma engineers.
In a meeting of the central body of association held here today, its president, Upinder Singh blamed the Principal Secretary, AK Mehta, for discriminating with diploma engineers. He said the Association would launch an agitation against the administration if 69 posts of AEs in PDD are not filled with diploma engineers on the analogy of Hydraulic, R&B (PWD Department) and for maintenance of 20% quota earmarked for Diploma holders at the level of AE, AEE and XEn.
While addressing the central body members, vice-chairman, Anil Gupta, said to accomplish the demands highlighted in the manifesto, no stone would be left unturned by the Association. He told the members that a proposal on the pattern of Punjab Government under career progression of diploma engineers stands submitted to Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah.
Narinder Singh while speaking lauded the efforts of diploma engineers for restoring roads, water supply and electricity damaged by unprecedented rains and flash floods. He asked the administration to stop further discrimination with the cadre.
The meeting was attended by a large number of diploma engineers from various wings.
