RAMBAN, Dec 30: Police here today recovered a dead body along with a vehicle from a gorge in Digdool area.
Helped by the local volunteers, cops retrieved the body from several hundred feet deep gorge alongside Srinagar-Jammu National Highway.
Police sources informed the deceased along with his vehicle of black colour and Mahindra Thar make bearing registration number JK01AN-9990 were missing from December 22 while travelling from Srinagar to Jammu.
They said that on late Monday afternoon a shepherd spotted a damaged accidental Thar Jeep in the gorge in Digdool area and informed Police.
On getting information cops along with local volunteers reached the spot and retrieved the body.
They said the body was kept at mortuary of District Hospital Ramban for identification.
Later on the deceased was identified as Umar Yaseen Shah of Railway Colony Nowgam, Srinagar.
SHO Police Station Ramban, Inspector Vijay Kotwal said family of the deceased was informed and they were on their way to Ramban.
Earlier on December 2, a Srinagar based family had sought help and assistance from the general public to locate Umar Yaseen Shah who was missing since December 22.
Finally the body of Umar Yaseen was recovered today.
