SAMBA, Dec 29: Some goons attacked the residence of a Sarpanch in Amb Tali keeping Panchayat of Samba last evening in which his 14 month old son was injured seriously.
According to the reports, the attackers came in the car, first they hit the gate with the car and then the pillar of the house with the car. Sarpanch’s 14 month child was seriously injured in the attack.
While talking with media persons, Sarpanch Vinod Kumar of Rakh Amb Tali said that he was having food inside his house at around 7.30 pm on Saturday night when he heard a sudden sound as some vehicle hit his gate twice. His wife came out with the small child in her lap and saw that a car entered the house and it was heading straight towards her. “My wife ran away for safety otherwise the goons would have crushed her under car. The car hit with the pillar damaging it also. At the same time, an attacker got out of the car and tried to attack my wife Kanchan with the result baby Shivansh fell down from her lap and the child was seriously injured”.
The injured was first taken to the District Hospital Samba after which the doctors referred him to Jammu SMGS Hospital. The panic gripped entire locality after the attack, Sarpanch added.
People also rushed to the spot and caught hold of one of the attackers and handed him over to police. The Sarpanch said that there were other two attackers in the car, who escaped. The car bearing registration JK21C-8191 also contained bottles of liquor, tools for attack, Sarpanch said.
Later the family lodged a complaint with the police after which the police team rushed to the spot and arrested the accused Mohan Lal who was caught by the people. However the other two attackers managed to escape leaving the car behind.
DySP, Samba Tilak Raj Bhardwaj said that one person has been arrested in this regard. The police also seized the car used in the attack which was also partially damaged. He said that he has registered the case and started investigating.
The people of the area have condemned the attack on the Sarpanch of the area. People have demanded arrest of all involved in attack and action under law against them.
