RAJOURI, Dec 18: Third child of the family, whose two children had died of mysterious food poisoning in Budhal area of Rajouri last week, also expired late this evening while being referred to Chandigarh hospital from GMCH Jammu.
With this, total death toll due to mysterious food poisoning in the Rajouri district has reached to eight.
Reports said that the third child of Mohd Ishfaq of village Badaal in Khwas, Budhal, who was undergoing treatment at GMC Hospital Jammu since December 12 following suspected food poisoning, was today referred to Chandigarh hospital as his condition started deteriorating. However, he died before reaching Chandigarh.

Earlier, two other children of Mohd Ishfaq, his 7-year-old daughter Nazia Kouser and 11-year old son Ishfaq Ahmed, had died after falling sick of suspected food poisoning on December 12.
This was the second case of mysterious deaths in the district within five days. One Fazal Hussain and his three children had died of suspected food poisoning on December 8 while his daughter, who was undergoing treatment along with mother at GMC Jammu, died on December 13.
The deaths due to mysterious food poisoning has shocked the entire area while the Government deputed medical teams are investigating the series of unusual deaths. Rapid sampling procedures are ongoing and food and water samples were already sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL). A control mechanism has been put in place to monitor the situation, and helpline numbers have been disseminated among the public for immediate support. The administration is taking all necessary precautions to prevent further escalation of the situation.
