Death toll in Arnia shooting case reaches three

JAMMU, Nov 7: The death toll in Arnia shooting case has risen to three with one of the two persons critically injured in the incident succumbed to his injuries today.
According to police sources, bullet-riddled bodies of two persons, Sabar Chowdhary and Arif Chowdhary, were recovered from the shooting site in Salehar village of Arnia on Friday while Babar Chowdhary and Parveen Kumar were found in a critical condition and they were shifted to Government Medical College (GMC) and Hospital, Jammu for medical treatment.
They said Babar Chowdhary today succumbed to injuries while being shifted from GMC Jammu to a hospital in Punjab for specialized treatment. He was elder brother of Sabar Chowdhary and a history-sheeter who had served two jail terms under the Public Safety Act (PSA) in the past, sources said, adding, the body of Babar Chowdhary was brought back to GMC Jammu from Kathua and after getting conducted post-mortem, it was handed over to its legal heirs for last rites.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jammu Chandan Kohli confirmed the death of Sabar Chowdhary. He said Sabar was being taken to a Government hospital in Punjab for specialized treatment after being referred by the doctors at GMC Jammu but he died on the way.
The SSP said the main accused Constable Bhopinder Singh as well as his accomplice Constable Sadeeq is still on the large. He said multiple teams have been formed to arrest the accused and soon they will be in police custody.
