Death toll in Uri mishaps mounts to 10

SRINAGAR Feb 1: The death toll in the road accident in Uri area of Baramulla district rose to 10 today after two injured passengers succumbed to their injuries late last night.
The two injured who were shifted to Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), Srinagar from Baramulla succumbed to their injuries during treatment late last night.
They have been identified as Shabir Ahmad, son of Abdul Gani and Shabir Ahmad, son of Mohammed Abdullah-both residents of Bujithallan.
Meanwhile, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Traffic Rural Kashmir, Ravinder Pal Singh told Excelsior that the driver of the vehicle was habitual offender of the traffic rules. “He was fined nine times for overloading in the area and on 29th of January we had sent a letter to the RTO Kashmir seeking cancellation of his driving license,” he said.
