Debate on ‘Role of Media in Democracy’ held

RAMBAN, Mar 26: District Information Centre(DIC), Ramban organized cultural panorama and a debate on the “Role of Media in Democracy” to aware people as well as students about  the working, responsibilities and limitations of media in a democracy.
The programme which was presided over by Head master,Trilok Singh at Government City Middle School, Ramban  joined by many students of other schools.
In the debate 10 students participated out of which Ruffiya Muktyar, Aruna Rajput and Mohd Shahid stood first, second and third respectively who were given the prizes and certificates by the chief guest.
In the cultural programme local artists amused the gathering with traditional songs usually sung in the hilly regions.
Lauding the efforts of the Information Department, the Headmaster urged its officials to hold more such programmes in future to create competitive spirit in the students community. He dwelt in detail on the role of media in democracy.
Speakers emphasized on the need of objective, correct and bold reporting in the present era to strengthen this fourth pillar of democracy and serve the country as well.
