MENDHAR, Apr 1: Senior NC leader and legislator, Javed Ahmed Rana today criticised PDP-BJP Coalition Government for its failure to address the problems of farmers and common man, even after a severe drought has hit several areas across the State.
Addressing a public meeting at Sagra in Mendhar, NC Legislator said that though public of the area is facing worst drought these days, Government has no plan to tackle the situation. The poor farmer and the common man has been abandoned by this Government, he accused.
Rana said that even though several areas across State were predicted to be drought-affected, the Government had not taken up any relief projects as the coalition partners were busy with internal squabbles throughout the year. There is no contingency plan in sight also to lessen the miseries of drought-hit, he said.
“As the dry spell would continue, natural springs and streams that have already turned dry and won’t be recharged, the MLA feared depletion in the ground water table. He said Mendhar being a hilly area will face severe water scarcity in absence of any plan from the Government to provide relief to the people.
Rana asked Government to immediately declare Mendhar drought-hit as all it’s three tehsils are undergoing severe water scarcity and public is being forced to migrate to other places.
Pertinently, MeT Depart-ment has made a grim prediction that like March, April too, would be nearly dry. The Director MeT said that there was a deficit of 95% precipitation this winter, the highest in recent years, Rana maintained.
