JAMMU, Feb 8: Different Sikh Organizations including J&K Sikh Welfare Front, J&K Sikh Council and other senior Sikh leaders said that the recent declaration of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for marking the 26th December as “Veer Baal Diwas” to pay homage to the courage and martyrdom of the Four Sahibzades (four sons) of Guru Gobind Singh has widely boosted the morale of Sikh community.
Ranjodh Singh Nalwa, Chairman J&K Sikh Welfare Front and Harasis Singh President, J&K Sikh Council while addressing a joint press conference here along with other Sikh leaders said that after Independence of India, it is only the present Government headed by Narendra Modi, which has acknowledged the great sacrifices of Guru Gobind Singh against the repressive policies of Mughal and Pahari Rulers of that time.
They said this official announcement of the Prime Minister remembering the ideals of bravery of Mata Gujjar Kour is a matter of great pride for entire Sikh community and real tribute to the courage and sacrifices of the Sahabzades and other martyrs of the Sikh community.
Ranjodh Singh Nalwa, Harasis Singh along with other Sikh leaders including Ranjit Singh, Devinder Singh, Surinder Singh, Sohan Singh, Manpreet Singh, Rangil Singh and Jaspreet Singh said that Sikhs as a community have always been in the forefront on the path of defence of their motherland, on the principals laid down by their great Gurus and have appealed to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi for providing the members of Sikh Community, the opportunities for serving the nation better, by ensuring their representation in Assembly, Parliament and other important fields of Governance and administration.
Sikh leaders have also appealed to the Prime Minister to reconsider the suggestions of Jathedar Sri Akal Takhat Sahib and Shiromani Gurdwara Parbadhak Committee (SGPC) Amritsar for naming 26th December as per Gurmat Terminology and Sikh traditions and have appealed to the Sikh Organizations to write letters of appreciation and thanks to Prime Minister for this historical step.
