Decline in militancy meaningless: Omar

SRINAGAR, June 17:In the backdrop of Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh’s statement that militant-related incidents have declined by 25 per cent in J&K, former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said it was all meaningless as the Centre has refused even to consider partial rollback of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) in the State.
This is when I remind you that all this is meaningless, when you refuse to even consider partial roll back of AFSPA, Mr Abdullah, who is also the working president of National Conference, wrote on micro-blogging site Twitter.
Mr Abdullah had in the past hit out at People’s Democratic Party (PDP), alleging that Mufti-led Government has taken a U-turn over the revocation of the controversial Act, which gives special powers to Armed forces in the State.
